WPA World Championships for Juniors and Wheelchair athletes on in South Africa

From December 9th-12th, 2013, the WPA World 9-ball Championships for Juniors and wheelchair athletes are on in Johannesburg, South Africa. The venue is the Gold Reef City Casino and Theme Park.
The European Junior’s contingency is represented by (left to right): Nataliya Seroshtan (RUS), Gerald Gollnhuber (Coach), Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL), Daniel Schneider (SUI), Kateryna Polovinchuk (UKR), Nino Andreuzzi (GER), Andrej Seroshtan (RUS), Daniel Guttenberger (AUT), Joshua Filler (GER), Daniel Tangudd (SWE), Jan van Lierop (NED), Sebastian Batkowski (POL) and Sandra Hanf (EPBF Youth Sports Director).
All but two player won their opening matches and proceeded to the first winner’s round. Only Kamilla Khodjaeva and Daniel Schneider lost their first matches. Khodjaeva was already up 5:1 over April Larsson (USA), but in the end had to give in with 5:6. Schneider’s match was almost the exact opposite. He was trailing big time but cam back and tied the match at 7:7. Then he made a mistake and lost dramatically with 7:8.
Guttenberger (against Yapp from Singapore) and Batkowski (against Ko, Ping-Chung from Chinese Taipei) play the semifinal on the winner’s side while Polovinchuk is already in the winer’s side qualification match for the final where she will play Wu, Zhi-Ting-from Chinese Taipei.
The European wheelchair contingency consists of Roy Kimberley, Matt Duffy, Tony Southern, Danny Luton (all GBR), Jouni Tahti (FIN), Fred Dinsmore (IRE), Henrik Larsson (SWE), Kurt Deklerck (BEL) and Emil Schranz (AUT). Deklerck and Dinsmore play the final on the winner’s side while all others except Luton are still trying their best on the loser’s side.
