Who cares about snooker?

Who cares about snooker ?
Do you?
This is the question that I have been asking myself for almost 5 years now. It was not something I planned to ask myself, just something that naturally happened along the way while trying to learn more about the game’s history here.
I have spent over 4000 hours on the telephone talking to snooker players & fans all over Canada, and have heard all kinds of fascinating stories (good & bad). I have also heard all the reasons why the game has gone down in this country, but I am not buying most of them because I see what is happening around the rest of the world.
There are people who actually do care about the game of snooker here and I feel privileged to have met some of them over the years.
They returned my calls when they had nothing to gain from it. They returned my emails, even though I was not offering anything. If they were in the area, they came to take part in the Richler Cup at some capacity. If they could not make it, they found a way to give a sincere note of encouragement.
I have not met all of them yet, but I shall continue on the path to meeting and learning from them. I shall continue to ignore the negative people who pretend to care about the game, you know, the ones that hide in the shadows, the ones who continue to be a detriment to the game’s growth for their own personal benefit.
As the game continues to grow, and more people continue to join the efforts in our nation, the snowball will continue to grow until we get the respect that we deserve as a game, the same respect curling, golf or tennis get here.  Weren’t we at the same level of these other sports once upon a time, what happened?
The passion for something can never be overtaken, and the obstacles can never be insurmountable.  Snooker is making a comeback here in Canada, and the goal is to make it here to stay this time !
If you feel like doing your part to help grow the game for the next generations to come, feel free to email or call us with whatever you have to offer, big or small.  If it is coming from the right place, it will always be welcome.
Thank You
