In the final day, Team West at least ended on a good note
Manila, Philippines - In the final match of Day 2, Team West came back from a 8 game losing drought to finally ending Asia's streak of wins at the Queens Cup! Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Jasmin Ouschan, Vivian Villareal, Rubilen Amit, Ga Young Kim, Pei Chen Tsai, Siming Chen. The greatest women's professionals in the East take on their rivals in the West! Players selected from China, Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines are taking on Great Britain, USA, and Austria in this year's JBET.com Queens Cup! The East vs West ultimate team showdown between the world’s greatest lady professional billiards players will take place at Resorts World in Manila, Philippines on November 5th-7th, 2013 .
GYK tries some arm english to get the balls moving for the East
Siming Chen had handed Captain Kelly Fisher a 4-0 shutout after Ga Young Kim murdered Villarreal 4-0. Things looked pretty murky for the West at that point. But thanks to some great co-captaining by Allison Fisher, the nerves of Team West settled down and they were able to win the first game and never trailed in the 4 on 4s.
A key moment came when they were faced with a tough decision on the 2-Ball with Kelly having to shoot. The players were microphoned up so the TV audience could hear. Ouschan was vocal about the safe. Allison said," I like Kelly shooting the 2-Ball with inside spin and making it and playing position. She's good at that shot. Go on Kelly." Next thing you know Kelly sliced the 2 ball down the rail perfectly and made great shape for the 3ball. The team ran out and eventual won the match.
Smiles were all gone when it came time for business in the Queens Cup
"We have learned so much about each other's strengths and weaknesses as a team. It's quite nice actually", said Allison in the post interviews.
"It's a different kind of pressure from playing in a regular singles tournament", said Kelly.
Day 2 ends with Team Asia at 8 match wins and Team West at 3.
First team to reach 10 match wins are the champions
On Day 1 Team West also ended with a strong win in the triples. The strength in their team play shows
