Scandinavian festival in 9-ball

The final medals have been awarded today at the Dynamic Billard European Youth Championships 2019 in veldhoven, The Netherlands. 9-ball individuals and team competition was played.
The 9-ball individuals turned into a Scandinavian festival. With My Nguyen (SWE; girls), Emil-Andre Gangflot (NOR; U17) and Christoffer Lentz (DEN; U19) three players from the Northern European countries went for the gold medals.
In the team competition, Team Germany won the U19, Team Poland won the U17 and Team Russia took the Gold Medal in the girls division.
The final match in the U19 9-ball competition was played between Christoffer Lentz and Mustafa Alnar (TNC). It was only thrilling in the first 4 racks when Alnar was able to show some active resistance. After a score of 2:2, it was only Lentz who demonstrated high class pool while Alnar lost his track completely. The final result in that match was 8:2 in favour of the Danish.

The final 9-ball match in the U17 took place between Emil-Andre Gangflot and Szymon Kural (POL). Kural had already taken the crown in 10-ball earlier this week and was ready for more. The match was really exciting and thrilling to the spectators and it went all the way to a hill-hill situation at 6:6. Then, Kural attempted to play a safety on the 7-ball but to his horror had no ball touch any rails after the contact so the shot was called a foul. With ball in hand, Gangflot had no problem to run the remaining 3 balls and go for then Gold in the U17 9-ball competition.

In the girls 9-ball final, once more My Nguyen met Nina Torvund (NOR). The match had already happened during the competition yesterday when Torvund defeats Nguyen in the winner’s qualification round with 6:3. Last year’s 10-ball Champion was up against the defending 9-ball Champion. Today, My Nguyen played much better than yesterday and Torvund could not perform up to her usual level. In the end, Nguyen took the Gold home to Sweden with an impressive 6:2 victory over Torvund.

The final match in the U19 was played between Germany and Croatia. Germany won the match 3:0 with Christian Froehlich winning 7:4 in 10-ball over Ivan Galic. Niclas Dohr defeated Luka Galic in 9-ball with 8:6 while Jacques Wollschaeger remained victorious with 7:5 in 8-ball over Mario Gulic.

In the U17 team competition, Team Poland defeated the Team from Belarus with 2:1. While Szymon Kural put the first point into the Polish account with a 7:1 victory over Aliaksei Remez, Mikita Paluyan was able to tie the match result to 1:1 with his 10-ball win 6:1 over Oskar Jamorski. The decider was delivered by Dominik Jastrzab who defeated Andrei Adziarykha 6:1 in the 8-ball match. Poland won the team final with 2:1.

The team competition the girls division was won by Russia with an easy 2:0 victory over Norway. Valeriia Trushevskaia took down Astrid-Eiken Flage in 9-ball with 6:1. Aleksandra Guleikova won her 8-ball match with 5:2 over Nina Torvund.

Germany has won the medal table at the Youth Championships with Russia becoming second and Poland ranked #3.
