The 5th event of the Shooters Amateur 9 Ball series was held on the January 24/25, 2015 weekend at Shooters Snooker and Sports Club. A full board of 64 players was again reached for this new season series. The player Calcutta preceding tournament play was again very active as there are no clear favourites to win the tournament.
After play wrapped up on Saturday, Ben Chang, Scott MacDonald, Adrian Fragoso and Marc Dumoulin were undefeated on the ‘A’ side of the draw. On the one loss side Carlin Sanderson, Marco Sevilla, Nathan Clark, Mashaka Munene, Joshua Bryan, Norm Santos, Stefane Godinho and Shane Gummerson survived the struggles of the long day to play again on Sunday.
In the ‘A’ side final Ben Chang defeated Scott MacDonald sending MacDonald to the ‘B’ side and Chang to the hot seat. On the ‘B’ side, Carlin Sanderson was waiting and managed to defeat MacDonald setting up the final match against Ben Chang. In the tournament final Carlin Sanderson emerged the victor defeating Chang 7–5.
Congratulations to Carlin Sanderson on his long overdue tournament win.
