Rodney is Dangerous

It was a full house at Shooters Snooker & Sports Club in Toronto this past weekend. The CPA was running their regional singles event sending multiple players to Las Vegas to compete in both 8-ball and 9-ball divisions. The 404-Tour drew a full board to fill the 64 player sheet. Some of the regular faces were missing from this event. Top ranked John Morra (12) has been sharpening his skills in the Philippines and Erik Hjorleifson played the roll of tournament director as John White and "Uncle Leo" were not available.

On the top half of the draw, Harvey Shognosh had no difficulty playing with his new "10" handicap. Harvey had wins over Dan Lewis, Lee Brett and Mike Patrowicz before losing to tour veteran Mario Morra. On the lower half of the draw, reigning national 10-Ball Champion Naomi Williams made quick work of Al Logan, Ed Reyes and Andrew Attard.

Play continued on Sunday with 4 players on the a-side and 8 players on the b-side. Mario Morra joined the b-bracket courtesy of Norberto DeCarlos. Naomi would also move to the west side of the chart as Rodney Barrington had a convincing 7-2 win. Rodney also secured his spot in the finals with a 7-3 win over Norberto.

As Rodney waited in the hot-seat, Naomi did the hard work eliminating the higher ranked players including Harvey Shognosh and Mario Morra. It was Norbert who ended Naomi's run in the b-side final with a 5-4 score. Norbert earned his opportunity for a rematch against Rodney in the final match of the tournament. Rodney remained undefeated taking the first place prize with another 7-3 win over Norbert. Congratulations Rodney!
