Persad crushed over Kaci
Jul 27, 2015
In the quarter-final match in the Under 17’s, Kaylash Persad (NED) came up with a huge surprise, ousting Eklent Kaci (ALB) with 7:1.
Kaylash Persad (NED)
It seemed that Kaci had missed the start of the match. Usually, the Albanian has a great break and is known to be a decent shotmaker. In this match though, he did not show any of his talents. To the contrary, the balls did not really roll in his favor. That made Persad grow strong. The unheralded player from the Netherlands took rack after rack and after 7 racks, the score was 6:1 in favor of Persad. In the next rack, Kaci had the break shot. What happened was typical for describing the match. Kaci broke well and had balls down with a nice spread of the balls, but the cue ball got a kick from the 4-ball and scratched in the corner pocket. That gave Persad ball in hand which he used perfectly and cleared the table to oust Kaci with 7:1 from the 9-ball individuals. In the semi-final, Persad will play Daniel Maciol (POL). The other semi-final will be played between Kamil Szasor (POL) and Wiktor Zielinski (POL).
In the Under 19’s, defending Champion Raphael Wahl (GER) made it to the quarter-finals. There he was stopped by Krystian Cwikla (POL) who won 8:6 over Wahl. Cwikla will encounter Vitaliy Patsura (UKR) in the semi-finals. The other semi-final takes place between Michael Schneider (SUI) and Andreas Madsen (DEN).
In the girls division, the most of the usual suspects have made their way through to the semi-finals. Kristina Tkach (RUS) and Diana Khodjaeva (BEL) booked their semi-final ticket over the winner’s side. In the loser’s qualification round, Emily Heidergott (GER) slightly defeated Marharyta Fefilava (BLR) with 6:5. She will play Khodjaeva in the semi-finals. Tkach will meet her teammate Dina Fatihova (RUS) who eliminated Jana Peters (GER) in the loser’s qualification round with 6:5.
The semi-finals in the team competition are as follows:
