Makkonen as sharp as a knife

Women's tournament started today in Austria
Petri Makkonen (FIN)
St. Johann, Austria: Petri Makkonen (FIN) will be playing the semi-final match at the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open. He defeated Tomasz Kaplan (POL) with 6:9 and Phil Burford (GBR) in the quarter-final with 9:4 even. He came across very focussed and rock solid and also had some good rolls on his side. He will now face Niels Feijen (NED) in the semi-final. Feijen has defeated Daryl Peach (GBR) 9:5 and Mark Gray (GBR) 9:7 in the previous rounds and is now up against Makkonen for a shot at the final.
The second semi-final will be played between Alexander Kazakis (GRE) and David Alcaide (ESP). Kazakis overpowered local star Albin Ouschan (AUT) 9:8 and then remained on the winning road by defeating Konstantin Stepanov (RUS) with 9:6.

At 09:00 CET this morning, the first matches of the women's Euro-Tour  9- Ball have taken place in St. Johann/Pg.  Favorite player Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) won her first two opening matches with 7:2 over Nathalie Seichter (NED) and 7:1 over Caroline Roos (SWE).
A total of 38 players from 12 different countries have found their way to Austria to fight for the title. The women's matches will continue throughout the day with the last round to be played at 20:30 CET. The men's event continues with the semi-finals at 14:00 and 16:00 and the final match scheduled for 18:00 CET.
