The first event was held on June 25th with a group of 10 eager players. The format is modified round robin with the top 4 finishers get to play off for the cash. Coming out on top was Chris Lee of Newmarket with 12 total wins, Paul Robinson with 11 wins and Bobby Drowns with 10 wins. We had a 3 way tie between Gord Bud, Doug Smyth and Wayne Dargis. In the end tenacity and determination won out with Gord arising from the 3 way 1 game sudden death playoff.
The final 4 are seeded according to their finish. Chris Lee defeated Gord Budd 3-1, and Bobby Drowns narrowly defeated Paul Robinson 3-2. In the end Bobby Drowns defeated Chris Lee 3-0.
The second event was held July 23. The group was small but eager and had a great time. 8 men and 4 women were split into 2 groups of 6 and played a complete round robin. Play started at 12:30pm and at 6pm we had our final 4. However before we could start, Bobby Drowns and Penny Devoe had to play a 1 game sudden death playoff to determine who would be seeded number 1 in the playoffs with Bobby coming out the winner. Tammy Drury (CPA 4) also had to play a sudden death decider against Jason Gallant to see who went through to the finals, and Jason was the winner.
In the end, Bobby Drowns defeated Jason Gallant 3-1 to move to the finals and Paul Robinson defeated Penny Devoe 3-1. In the finals, Bobby defeated Paul 3-1. Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you goes out to Lucasi Hybrid Cues and Big Wig’s. See you all at the next one, August 13th
