Kugel eliminates Bijsterbosch

Tough match in the loser’s qualification round
In a heartbreaker, Christoph Kugel (GER) eliminates Marc Bijsterbosch (NED) with 9:8 from the event.

Both players seemed to be quite nervous in the beginning of the match. Probably they were aware of the fact that the winner of this match only needs one more victory and will be in the prize ranks of the event. SO the spectators could witness several mistakes by both contestants in the early stage of the match. Kugel seemed to control his nerves a bit better than Bijsterbosch. He was able to gain a small advantage over his Dutch opponent and kept that through until the final racks. Then, Bijsterbosch recovered a bit and gave Kugel a hard time. As the match went along, the players fund themselves in a hill-hill situation. There, Kugel had the better nerves and ousted Bijsterbosch with 9:8.
Other notable results include Ivo Aarts (NED) ousting Dennis Waldecker (GER) with 9:7. The event will continue tomorrow morning at 09:00 CET with the quarterfinal matches.
