Korea & China Have Rough Day at Yalin World Championship: Filipinas Excel

Manila, Philippines- China and Korea, two of the billiard giants in women's pool, had a tough start on Day 1 as many of their greatest players suffered early losses. Xiaofang Fu and World #1 Siming Chen of China both had a loss while Korea's powerhouse team of Yu Ram Cha, Eunji Park, and Yun Mi Lim also were beaten. But Philippines sole two bets in Rubilen Amit and Iris Ranola both had spectacular wins to remain unbeaten. The 2011 Yalin World 10-Ball Championship which will take place November 2-6 at Robinson's Galleria Robinson's Galleria. An elite world class pros only field of 48 international superstars of the world's greatest women's players will attend the event to become the World Champion of 10-Ball. This year's event is again title sponsored by Yalin Tables, one of the premier billiard table manufacturers of the world.
On the main TV table, Xiaofang Fu of China, the 20010 World 9-Ball Champion, took her debut inthe World 10-Ball. She took an early 2-0 lead, but soon lost control of the match as the persistent Ranola kept pressure on with accurate shotmaking. The fans gave support to the small statured Ranola and pulled her through to a 6-3 win.
A super tough match-up between World #1 Siming Chen of China and Korea's beauty pro star Yu Ram Cha had all the drama expected. With Cha leading at 5-2 needing only 1 game to close out the match, she made a easy error and gave Chen the chance she needed to mount a 6-5 comeback. But Chen was then in turn unexpectedly upsetted by Japan's unheralded Keiko Yukawa 6-2. Cha also furthered her misery with a 6-3 loss to Belgium's unknown Khodjeava. Cha will need to win her next 3 matches to give her a chance to qualify for the final stage of the World Championship.
Korea's Erica Eunji Park suffered a 6-5 loss to Britain's Kelly Fisher after being in control 4-2. Park bounced back with a 6-3 win over France's Dos Santos. Yun Mi Lim, a former quarter-finalist at the World Championship, had an unlucky draw to play her clse friend Ga Young Kim. Kim, a 2x World 9-Ball Champion, won 6-4. Kim was the only undefeated Korean of the four attending.
Rubilen Amit kept up her hometown hero status as she won both her matches over Russia and Taiwan. Amit won the event in 2009 and finished 3rd last year.
