Here Today Gone To Morra

A strong field of 54 players showed up for the last regular stop of the 404 Tour this past weekend at BigWigs Billiards in Newmarket.
Leading the top half of the bracket was Raymond Cruz with wins over Eric VanDervlugt (11-2), Ron Ranalli (11-2), Jody Langford (11-2), Lee Brett (11-6) and Ben Heywood (11-2).  Leading the bottom half of the bracket was Rodney Barrington with wins over Alan Ada (7-4), Mike VanEck (7-4), Rob Blair (7-7), Brittany Bryant (7-3) and a hill-hill win over John Morra (6-10).

Playing for the hot seat was Raymond Cruz vs Rodney Barrington.  Raymond cruised passed Rodney securing his spot in the finals with a convincing 11-3 win.  Waiting for Rodney on the one lost side was John Morra who just came off a 12-1 win over Ben Heywood.  This was a great match with Morra coming away with the win 11-4 to get to the finals.
The final was set to be a classic with the two highest ranked players squaring off against each other.  These two have faced each other many times at the national level.  As always with the 404 Tour format, the race between these two top players is shortened.  John Morra would race to 9 games, while Raymond Cruz would only need 8.  John Morra looked impressive winning his 5th 404 Tour event of the season with an 9-2 score over Raymond.

Thanks again to BigWigs Billiards and tournament director Blain Jorgensen for running another smooth event.  The final Money Added events will be held on April 28 (Shooters) and May 12th (BigWigs).  You must be qualified in order to participate in these events.
