Daulat’s B-Side Comeback to Claim Shooters’ ‘3-5’ Title!

Shooters Snooker Club in Toronto continued their run of unique events this past Sunday, February 27, 2016. After the first of its kind the week before, Shooters hosed a second consecutive ‘3-5’ Extended race 9-Ball Tournament. The players loved it last week, and so the organizers brought it back just one week later! Because this event was also Shooters’ second one-day event of the weekend, the field included 34 of the strongest SL 3-5 amateurs across the GTA.
With some new players registering for this event, and the small range of skill levels, this was set to be an exciting and unpredictable event. The entry fees were very reasonable and players fought hard throughout this event, competing for a prize pool just over $1,300 and a $580 Calcutta (with no green fee imposed by the organizers).
After weeding out some of the field, we were left with 12 players:
A-Side:
Arjun Devarajan vs Norm Santos
Nigel Small vs Trevor Breslin
B-Side:
Kevin Carrier vs Robbie Harris
Khalid Rashed vs Cesar Custodio
Daulat Ram vs Robin Harris
David Ballek vs Sherlock Wu
Khalid R and Daulat R went on to win their next two B-Side matches, while Nigel S and Norm S won their respective A-Side matches to face off in the hot-seat match. Nigel would go on to beat Norm hill-hill and earn his spot in the hot-seat.
Meanwhile on the B-Side Trevor B and Daulat R faced off in the B-Side Semi-finals. Daulat won his 6th consecutive B-Side match in order to get to the B-Side finals against Norm S. Daulat’s resilience earned him another victory and a chance back on the A-Side to claim the title, defeating Norm in a double-hill match.
This would be no easy task, as Daulat had to defeat the undefeated Nigel in two consecutive matches in this true double elimination event. After a long day of very close matches in the "35" Extended Race 9-Ball Event, Daulat Ram emerged victorious beating Nigel Small two straight sets to claim the event title!

We look forward to continuing to support our amateur players and hope to see you all again this coming Saturday for the "36" 9-ball event and Amateur 6-Reds Snooker Tournament.
