Canadians Fall at US Open

It's been an exciting week for our Canadian contingents in Virginia Beach at the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships.
The event started Sunday with all eyes locked on a very focused Brittany Bryant who was featured on the TV Table. Bryant trailed early in the match against Illinois' player Tom Karabatsos. After being down 9-3, Brittany managed to get comfortable and made the score 9-8. A missed 9-ball in the side was the deciding factor as Tom went on to win the match 11-9.
Eddie Cirasella got through his first match against Jared Vogel, before losing to Karl Boyes and Mark Showalter. The "Young Gun" Peter Hetherington had an impressive event at his first time competing at the US Open. Peter ended up with a 2-2 record and also managed to win a couple racks against Earl "The Pearl" Strickland. The rivalry between John Morra and Erik Hjorleifson continued as these two matched up in the second round. Morra pulled out the win this time 11-8. The "Young Gun" Peter Hetherington
As play throughout the week progressed, our top players all moved into the money rounds. The future looked promising until one-by-one, they began to fall. Last year's runner-up, Shawn Putnam, sent home Adam Smith (11-10) and Jason Klatt (11-8). Mario Morra lost to Maryland player Shaun Wilkie. Erik Hjorleifson's run ended against China's Hao Xiang Han. John Morra was unable to get past 2011 World 10-Ball Champion Huidji See.
Our only remaining Canadian player is Alex Pagulayan. Alex is undefeated and enjoying a smooth ride on the a-side. Alex has pulled off wins over Danny Spell (11-0), Santos Sambajon (11-9), Daryl Peach (11-10) and Jung Lin Chang (11-6). His next opponent is "The Scorpion" Johnny Archer.
