Brandon Jaipaul: Shooters’ Super 5

This past weekend Shooters Snooker Club in Toronto held two unique one-day events for players of varying skill levels. The first event on February 20 was the Amateur Elites SL 9 and under 9-Ball straight race event. The next day, on February 21, Shooters hosted the 3-5 Extended Race 9-Ball tournament. This one-day event invited players SL3 to SL5 to race to their handicap +1 in order to compete for a prize pool slightly larger than $1,500 not including the Calcutta.
The second event, Shooters 3-5 Extended Race 9-Ball Tournament, had 40 players show up to compete in this unique event. This event brought out the best in each competitor, as the players were at similar playing levels. Shooters would like to thank the amateur pool players across Ontario for their continued support.
After several rounds of play, the final 6 players were:
A-Side:
Arjun Devarajan vs Brandon Jaipaul
B-Side:
Adam Roos vs Gary Orig
Trevor A vs Brandyn Griffin
After beating Arjun D 6-2, Brandon Jaipaul earned a spot in the hot-seat and would await the winner of the B-Side.
Meanwhile on the B-Side, Brandyn Griffin won four consecutive B-Side matches in order to face off against Arjun D. Arjun would come up short 6-2 once again, and Brandyn’s 5th consecutive B-Side victory would set up a Brandon-Brandyn finals!
The final battle of the Brands was not lacking any excitement as it came down to the wire. Brandon Jaipaul claimed a victory over Brandyn Griffin in a double-hill 6-5 in this true double elimination event. Congratulations Brandon J, going undefeated throughout the tournament. Brandyn G also performed excellently fighting his way back from the B-side to to make the final.
