Brady Gollan - Still a Champion

May 7, 2018

It’s been 4 fantastic days of snooker in Toronto ! The 2018 Canadian Snooker Championships wrapped up today with the crowd and fans alike being treated to a spectacular final between Brady Gollan (BC) versus Alan Whitfield (ON). The match started off a little scrappy with both players somewhat tense, but once they settled in some fantastic snooker was put on display. Brady ended up edging out Alan by a margin of 6-4 to earn the victory and his second national title 30 years later from his first ! Congratulations Brady, well done. The newest member to the CBSA board Cliff Thorburn was at the venue all weekend to support the players in every way he could, it was great to have such an influential snooker ambassador to Canada present during the event and provide commentary alongside Jim Wych for the finals.

As the CBSA pushes the game of snooker to new levels in Canada a few big announcements were made this weekend by the board and Cliff Thorburn personally. First off there will be an event at the Corner Bank in Toronto, December 7-9 and the winner will receive a spot into a WPBSA seniors tour event in England next season ! All details to the event will be released in the next couple days so stay tuned for further info. During the commencement and introduction of the finals Jim Wych made yet another exciting announcement stating the 2019 Canadian Snooker Championships will once again be in Toronto and carry a minimum of $10,000 added to the purse !

The CBSA board would like to extend their many thanks to every player, spectator, sponsor, volunteer, provincial association and supporters over the last few days, there’s never been a better time to be a snooker player in Canada and the future is only going to get brighter !
