Banks Division underway at the Southern Classic
Jul 20, 2012
The 1st Annual Southern Classic is underway in Tunica, Mississppi. We got updates for some of our local players who made the drip down south. The first round is over in the banks, Derby City Banks Champion John Morra lost a heartbreaker to Josh Ulrich. Morra was up 2-0, Josh played some good banks and made it a match squaring it up at 2-2. Josh then went on to win the match after trailing 3-1 in ball count. No sweat he is still in it!
Toronto bank veteran Justin Kluznik continued his weird luck with tough draws and familiar opponents. Justin matched up against fellow Canadian Adam Smith. After a dry first break Adam quickly ran 3 balls and played safe eventually taking the lead 1-0. A good break and three more quick ones for Adam, Justin's confidence started to drop but a foul by Adam let him back in and tied the match at 1-1. After a good break by Justin, he ran 3 balls putting the pressure back on Adam. After some good safety banking from both players, Justin edged Adam in the next game and went up 2-1. Kluznik scme out firing on the hill and won the match 3-1!
Eddie Cirasella also won his first match, he is extremely happy about that. Eddie took a early jump into the lead winning the first two game putting him on the hill. His opponent grinded him out squaring it up at 2-2. At 3-3 in balls a safety shot was Ed's best option however his adrenaline took over, he saw a glimpse of a aggressive option taking it on and potting a immaculate cross side and stiffing in the game winner on the next inning.
Play resumes Saturday at 10am.
