Aqeel wins Shooters “3-6” Extravaganza 9-ball

One month after the first of 6 events (plus one huge payout Grand Finale) from Shooters “47”Extravaganza Series! On Jan 19-20, Shooters Snooker & Sports Club in Toronto hosted its second Extravaganza event - “36” Extravaganza 9-ball Tournament. This tournament always seems to put the strongest players SL 6 and under in the spotlight. With a strong field of 44 players for this two-day event, it was set to be full of excitement and competition. The pool sharks came out to compete for their share of a combined prize pool and Calcutta of $10,000
After a few big upsets in the early rounds on Saturday, the field was narrowed down to 4 undefeated A-Side players and 4 on the B-Side that come back on Day 2.
A-Side:
Nito Bucais vs. Aqeel Mohamed
Dave Daviau vs. Toby Huang
B-Side:Marco Sevilla vs. Michael Victoria
Jake Cajilig vs. Chris Xie
Aqeel beat Nito hill-hill, sending him to the B-Side to face Michael. Dave also beat Toby in a close match, sending him to the B-Side to face Chris Xie. On the B-Side, Nito would be eliminated by Michael and Toby would also eliminate Chris. Michael and Toby would then play each other in the B-Side semifinals. Michael got the best of Toby, winning that match 7-5. Michael anxiously awaited his next challenge, the loser of the hot-seat match on the A-Side.
Back over on the A-Side, Aqeel and Dave would try to end each other’s undefeated run. Dave shooting proved to be too good for Aqeel, as he defeated Aqeel 6-2 and earned his spot in the A-Side finals. Aqeel and Michael would face off for one last chance in the B-side finals. In this heated match, Aqeel was the winner in a tough hill-hill 7-6 match.
The final match was set as a rematch between Aqeel and Dave. Because of the true double elimination format, Dave would have to lose two sets in order for Aqeel to take down the tournament. Aqeel won the first set 7-2 and also winning the decisive set 7-2. Congratulations Aqeel Mohamed for winning this long two-day event. Thank you to all the players and those who came out to support.
Shooters “47” Extravaganza 9-ball Series is the highest payout events for Amateur players in the GTA region! In our last session, total prize payout was way over $100,000 for 7 events within 6 months period!!
Shooters would like to remind everyone that “8 and Under” 9-ball event will be next week Jan 26 and “2-6” 9-ball event on Jan 27, 2019.
Shooters would also like to let everyone know that the 3rd and 4th event from “47” Extravaganza Series - “47” Extravaganza Scotch Doubles - Maximum 13 and “47” Extravaganza 10-ball are scheduled for Feb 16-17 and March 23-24, 2019 respectively.
