Antonakos dominates Joss Tour Stop
Apr 17, 2011
Fans of the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour are used to seeing dominating performances at various tour stops, and the fans in attendance over the weekend of April 16-17th at the Golden Cue in Albany, NY saw another one ... maybe just not the player they expected to be doing the domination. This time, it was Greg Antonakos who was laying down the law and the field of 49 other players could do nothing by watch.
While Antonakos was tested Sunday afternoon by Dave Pinkston, that hill-hill match was the last time a player would come anywhere near beating Greg at this event. Chance Chin fell to Antonakos 9-4 for the hot-seat and then Chin dropped a 9-3 decision to Dave Grau on the one loss side. This set up the final double elimination matchup between Grau and Antonakos, but all of the suspense in this matchup was gone in a hurry as Antonakos crushed Grau 9-1 in the first set.
Antonakos pocketed $1100 for the weekend, while Grau settled for $800 in second place prize money.
The second chance tournament on Sunday drew 23 players who took their shot at the $960 in prize money. This event was won by Angelo Hilton who went undefeated and scored a hill-hill win over John Kruythoss in the finals.
Zuglan is still taking entries for the Turning Stone Classic XVII, which takes place September 8 - 11 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.
