Alain Robidoux wins Cambridge Invitational

Feb 23, 2014

The 11th annual Cambridge Invitational Pro/Am Snooker Tournament has held once again at the Grand Valley Golf and Country Club in Cambridge, Ontario. The 10-day event kicked off on February 14th with Bob Chaperon (2013 Champion) and Brittany Bryant (two time world junior champion) entertaining the crowd with an exhibition match.
Interest in this event continues to grow as it has become one of the most prestigious snooker events in the Province. The 8 invited pros received a bye into the second round.  There were also 16 amateur players who battled against each other in the first round.  Only two would manage to get past the pro players.  Local amateur player, Ray Jansen had a great tournament with wins over Greg Griffith (5-4) and Jim Wych (5-2). Jansen was eliminated in the quarterfinals falling to the eventual winner Alain Robidoux.
John Everekian
The big surprise of this event was John Everekian who seemed unstoppable as he marched through to the finals with wins over Levi Meiller (5-3), Eddie Galati (5-4), Kirk Stevens (5-1) and last years champion Bob Chaperon (5-3). John also picked up the highest break of 136.  But it was Alain Robidoux who took the title for the third time getting the best of John 5-2.
