Adam Monture Claims Shooters’ Amateur Event #6 in Style!

On January 30/31, 2016, Shooters Snooker Club in Toronto held its 6th Amateur 9-ball event. With the final Amateur event just over two months away, the anticipation for this event for players SL4 to SL9 had been building. With 49 players competing for a prize pool of $2,000 and a Calcutta of $1,440, the tournament was expected to be an unpredictable 2-day grind.
After a long day 1 filled with great matches and some tournament favourites being eliminated, the field was shaved down to four undefeated players on the A-Side and four players on the B-Side with one loss thus far. There was a representative for each skill level from 5-9 going into day 2.
A-Side:
Rob Johnson vs Adam Monture
Jehlar Fernandez vs John Timmermans
B-Side:
Naomi Williams vs Ryan Murray
Marius Nakas vs Karl Kasprzak
The first matches of Day 2 began at 1:00 pm and Adam M and John T sent Rob J and Jehlar F to the B-Side by winning their matches 9-4. Jehlar and Rob would then face off against Naomi W and Marius N respectively. Jehlar did not let the B-Side slow him down as he defeated Marius, while Naomi continued to succeed on the B-Side. Naomi shot very well, defeating Jehlar 7-1 and she would await the loser of the hot-seat match.
Meanwhile on the A-Side, the two SL 9’s would face off against each other. Adam M’s shooting was spectacular, earning him the 9-3 victory over John T for the hot seat. Naomi and John then faced off in an even battle that saw Naomi earn her spot back at the A-Side to face Adam for the Amateur title.
After Naomi W lost her second match of the tournament, she went on to win 9 straight matches to earn a second chance to win the tournament against Adam M. Adam would eventually spoil the party for Naomi and claim the Amateur 9-Ball event #6 title in style, going undefeated in his 6 matches throughout the weekend.

Also, due to a conflict between events and the Super Bowl, Shooters’ Amateur 6 red Snooker Tournament will be rescheduled to March 5, 2016.
