2012 European Mosconi Cup Rankings Latest

Oct 22, 2012

No movement as top five remain on course
WITH THE 2012 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup ranking calendar concluding this weekend with the closing stages of the US Open, the Europeans played out their penultimate event from 18th to 20th October at the North Cyprus Open.
There were no major movements as winner Nick Malai (Albania) is too far adrift in the rankings to move into contention while runner-up Albin Ouschan moves into seventh place and could feasibly crack the top five if results go in his favour in Chesapeake this weekend.
The top five stay the same with World 9 Ball Champion and defending US Open Champion Darren Appleton heading the list – a point ahead of Nick Van den Berg. 2011 Mosconi Cup hero Chris Melling moves into third position while 1995 winning captain Oliver Ortmann (Germany) and Greece's Nikos Ekonomopoulos make up the top five.
The European Mosconi Cup Ranking consists of 10 events – six Euro Tour events and four World events. The World events will carry approximately 50% more points due to the international strength of the field.
Only players finishing in the last 32 of each event will be allocated points and at the conclusion, after the 2012 US Open, the top two players will automatically gain entry to the Mosconi Cup side.
The remaining three players will be Matchroom Sport wildcard picks although the ranking will play a part in this.
