The 8-ball individuals have been decided at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Seniors & Ladies 2019. Anja Hehre (GER) and Aygun Karabiyik (SUI) have taken the titles in their respective divisions.
Aygun Karabiyik has had a tough day already. After having ousted all three Portuguese players, he also eliminated Jesse Thehu (NED) with a more than clear performance 7:2 in the semi-final. This was already an indication that Karabiyik might be on fire today. His opponent in the final match was Michael Stark (AUT). Stark had ousted several players earlier as well but not with results as clearly as Karabiyik. The final match went according to this prediction. Karabiyik took the lead and seemed to have easy going. But then he committed several unforced errors which brought Stark back into the match. After having had a nice 4:1 lead, the match was suddenly open with Karabiyik being up only one point at 5:4. Then Stark took his time-out. When he came back, he was having the break shot but jailed the cue ball so he could not do anything with it. Karabiyik capitalised from the situation and cleared the table with one more point needed for the Championship. That point was then due to come in the next rack when Karabiyik won a safety battle over Stark which brought him the match and the deserved title.

In the final of the ladies division, Anja Hehre met Cristina Moscetti (ITA). In the early stage it looked like Moscetti was in control of things. But Hehre hung in there and kept a foot in the door. Even though Hehre was down 0:2 and 2:3, she managed to overpower her Italian opponent and eventually come up with a nice 5:3 victory which brought her the title.
