Canada's Future Shines Today

The 2014 Canadian National Amateur/Junior Pool Championships were held from June 24th-29th. For the first time in many years, the event was held outside of Ontario. The room owner for Fairville Shooters in Saint John, New Brunswick welcomed all players by adding $1,000 to each event.
The first event was the amateur women’s 8-Ball with 14 players participating. Theresa Hunter bounced back from a loss in the second round to take the title:

Next up was the Amateur Men’s 8 Ball. Adrian Fragoso made the trip from Ontario worthwhile as he kept his composure together winning 8 straight matches for the national title. This win was Adrian’s first win in a major event.  We look forward to seeing Adrian in the spotlight again soon.

In the Junior 9-Ball Event, “Team Ontario” dominated this event filling out the top three spots. Stuart MacTaggart now has his first national title under his belt.

The Men’s Amateur 9-Ball event, “Team New Brunswick” proved that they too can play this game. Mike Henderson went undefeated with a hill-hill win in the finals. Mike will be representing Canada next year at the World 9-Ball Championships.

The last event was the Amateur Women’s 9-Ball. Theresa Hunter captured her second national title in less than a week with a 9-6 win over Lisa Savoy in the finals.
