404 9-Ball Tour

Leyland Comes From B-Side in Newmarket

Justin Leyland
Big Wigs hosted their first 404 tour event of the season. With many of the high ranked players south of the border at the U.S. Open, the field was wide open in Newmarket. Mike Patrowicz worked his way through the top half of the bracket with wins over Eric VanDervlugt (9-1), Chris Bartha (9-4), Justin Kluznik (9-7), Wayne Tate (9-1) and Chris Wood (9-8).
The lower bracket witnessed strong play from Justin Leyland, winning his matches over Shane Gummerson (7-3), Cody Ward (7-3), Ray Jansen (7-4), Peter Jackson (7-4) and Tyler Nearing (7-6). Justin was then sent to the b-side courtesy of a 9-4 loss to Mike Patrowicz. Justin’s loss to Mike was his only loss of the tournament. He regained his composure on the b-side with a 7-8 win over former Canadian Champion Chris Wood.
Mike Patrowicz
With just two players left in the tournament, it was a replay of the match just hours before. Mike Patrowicz would need to get to 9 games before Justin Leyland got to 7. Mike was unable to beat Justin the second time. Justin took home his first 404 title with a 7-7 score. Well done!
