The third and final Eight-ball qualifier was held at Petrina’s on April 20th. The 8 participants were vying for a spot in this years Canadian Championships to be staged in Quebec City the first week of May. The Canadian Billiards and Snooker Association (CBSA) sanctions the Ontario Billiards and Snooker Association to represent cuesports in the province of Ontario. This spring the directorship has quietly relaunched the pool side of the OBSA and had begun offering tournament to interested players.
Mr. Morra, had an early first round match beating Adil Qayyum (A) by a (9-2) score. The second match against Chris Ormston (AA) was a much harder (9-5) victory that was not as easy as it looked. The finals saw Mario battle tooth and nail against Hermie Dy (AAA) an intense player whose never quit demeanor makes him tough to beat. The two cueists battled back and forth for over two hours before Mario finally got the jump on Hermie and won (9-7). Mario Morra advances to Quebec.
Look for more OBSA events, the directorship is looking for venues to host events in what they promise will be a new era of pool in Ontario.
