This past weekend Shooters Snooker Club in Toronto held two unique one-day events for players of varying skill levels. The first event on February 20 was the Amateur Elites SL 9 and under 9-Ball straight race event. The next day, on February 21, Shooters hosted the 3-5 Extended Race 9-Ball tournament. This one-day event invited players SL3 to SL5 to race to their handicap +1 in order to compete for a prize pool slightly larger than $1,500 not including the Calcutta.
The first event, Shooters Amateur Elites Tournament, had a field of 36 players SL 9 and under racing straight to 8 games. This field of 36 included many of the top amateur pool players in Ontario, who shot well throughout the day.
After several rounds of long races, there were 12 players remaining:
Both of the remaining A-Side matches came down to the 15th game as Adam M and Marc D defeated Al L and Rob H respectively. After being bumped to the B-Side, Rob H and Al L won their respective B-Side matches and would soon face off against each other. Rob H would come up on top against Al L 8-6 and awaited the loser of the hot-seat match.
In the hot-seat match, Marc D defeated Adam M 8-5 after some great shooting, setting up the B-Side finals between Adam M and Rob H. In another very close match, Rob H came out on top 8-6 against Adam M and earned himself a second chance to beat Marc D.
After a long day of pool, there could only be one person remaining. Congratulations to Marc Dumoulin on his spectacular 1st place finish in the 9-Ball Amateur Elites Tournament. Rob Hall battled hard to finish 2nd losing 8-6 in the finals. An exciting day and great time was had by everyone participating and watching. Shooters would like to extend a big thank you to the players for their support!
